the film
‘Shady Business’ is a visual communication project that aims to provide a space for conversations and discussions on colourism within the Somali context. For many generation our elders have been led to follow a status quo of "the lighter the skin, the better". Through the intergenerational perspectives of individuals affected by past and current manifestations of colourism, this project will hopefully add to the support and advice we would have needed from our elders but couldn’t receive due to the oppressive systems of racism, white supremacy, patriarchy and colonialism, put in place by an external autocrat; the white man. Our parents are bearing decades of trauma that they themselves don’t understand because of it being so normalised. We’re the generation that can demand change for ourselves and set new tones for coming generations.

What’s a Rich Text element?

Testing out titlesThe rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
