Me

Galerekwe Maimane

Galerekwe Maimane (aka Gale)is an emerging Film Director and photographer residing in Johannesburg, South Africa. A Multimedia Design graduate from Pretoria, who was one the 2016 Design Indaba Emerging Creatives. Her approach to both filmmaking and photography is eclectic, offbeat and considered. Finding meaning in the seemingly small and everyday to tell relatable stories is a core point of departure for her. Her work has a candid and in-the-moment quality that tells the simplest and most complex stories, making either equally unforgettable. Her short-film “me” was chosen for consideration by Bokeh Fashion Film Festival 2018. Since then Gale has made award-winning brand work for Edgar's Fashion and worked with Netflix; Facebook; Nelson Mandela Foundation; Unilever; Jameson; Tyme Digital Bank to name a few
the film
We open on a young woman, alone in her room anxiously tentatively procrastinating. A manifestation of anxiety. She examines and watches herself in the mirror. A play at the duality of self, the ending will later reveal–lazing around. She contently ignores the world. She continues her flow of self-care in the bath, facing the wall, away from the world, her body language reserved and slow. She lazily wallows, wades and ultimately submerges herself in the water, a symbol of the Unconscious. She goes through the motions choosing via a frenetic, dreamy montage. A step out of reality into her own personal world. Finally she emerges ready and bold. She emerges as yellow. As the stage goddess we know and love. “Being me.” We wanted to make a piece that encapsulates fashion and music in a skillful way. A tender way. A femme way. A slow way. Much like the song - it's crafted simplicity took me and Neo on a few roads in the way of ideas. The extrapolation of choice comes in what she choices to wear. Simple and clear. Putting the two together. Fashion and music. We finally decided to make what felt like a meditation on self-care; choice and self-acceptance. A flow. A dance. A cute moment.

What’s a Rich Text element?

Testing out titlesThe rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
